Our Projects
Case Study – The Laminex Group / WESP Installation
This project required specialised mechanical and structural installation within a fully operational manufacturing facility—where space, safety, and continuity presented significant delivery challenges.
The Challenge
Laminex required the installation and commissioning of a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP) system at their operating Dardanup plant. The scope included full SMP (structural, mechanical, and piping) works, delivered within a confined area while the plant remained in active operation.
The Solution
We executed construction within a highly restricted work zone while maintaining plant uptime. Our team coordinated works with existing operations, applied precise planning, and implemented rigorous safety controls to deliver the WESP installation safely, efficiently, and without disruption to production.
The Outcome
The WESP was successfully constructed and commissioned on time and under budget. Most importantly, the project was completed with zero incidents or injuries—an outcome that reflects our commitment to safety and execution excellence.

Case Study – FLSmidth / Covalent Lithium Project
The Challenge
Bunbury Engineering was engaged by FLSmidth to deliver an integrated acid mixing and kiln feeding system for the Covalent Lithium Project. The objective was to address the unique material characteristics of the mined ore and engineer a solution that would optimise acid retention, reduce consumption, and ensure high system reliability during operation.
The Solution
We custom-designed acid mixers tailored to the ore’s specific properties, enabling efficient mixing and reduced acid use. In parallel, we developed a ceramic-lined kiln feeder engineered for high wear resistance and minimal maintenance. This fully integrated solution was designed, engineered, and manufactured in-house, ensuring performance, safety, and long-term reliability.
The Outcome
The complete system was delivered to site ahead of construction and successfully installed and commissioned. The client achieved operational readiness on schedule, and the installed components continue to perform reliably, meeting all key performance objectives with reduced maintenance downtime.

Case Study – Bluewaters Power / Coal Mill Maintenance Package
The Challenge
Bunbury Engineering was tasked with delivering a complete maintenance program for the coal mills at Bluewaters Power Station. Each unit required full inspection, refurbishment, and reassembly within strict outage windows, with zero margin for mechanical failure.
The Solution
We developed and implemented an 18-month maintenance cycle, aligned to planned outages. Our team stripped, refurbished, and reassembled the coal mills during each shutdown, supplying all required components and spares in advance to eliminate delays.
The Outcome
Over the lifecycle of this project, we have successfully completed 29 scheduled outages with zero recorded failures in refurbished mills. Our consistent performance has supported the continuous operation of one of WA’s critical power assets.
